![]() are looking for a new actor to take on the role of Bruce Wayne, so it would make sense to have him and the Clown Prince of Crime in the same world to possibly meet up later on down the line. The main argument was that DC Films and Warner Bros. These include The Batman Part 2, the long-awaited sequel to Robert. A few weeks ago it was rumored that the two DC projects could be related, but it wasn't exactly explained. Joker 2 will be part of a slot of upcoming projects that will coexist with DC Studios new canon without being part of it. ![]() If this rumor about Thomas Wayne in the Joker Origin movie is true, this could be the tie-in to Matt Reeves' The Batman as well. Phoenix is the one of around half a dozen actors to bring the Batman character to life in just over a decade onscreen, with Jared Leto, Heath Ledger and Cameron Monaghan playing the character. If Bruce Wayne's father is going to be in the Joker Origin movie, how will he be utilized, especially if the part is supposed to be pretty big? It is entirely possible that the movie will also serve as an origin story for Batman as well, but with an obvious focus on the Joker. ![]() While it isn't clear who will be playing Thomas Wayne, it more than likely will not be Robert De Niro, according to the new report. I do know that one character who's going to have a big role in this is Thomas Wayne." I don't think he's playing like a local TV host or something like that, who's maybe broadcasting about the Joker. In practice… Well, we’ll see, but get ready for those heated online debates just in case."As for De Niro's role, I don't think he's playing some canon type character. In theory, Joker 2 saved both The Batman sequel and itself. ![]() This will still happen, but the scale may vary. Potentially, the audience will have enough time to appreciate Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker with no hurry and get ready to appreciate Barry Keoghan's iteration of the character, too, without immediately jumping to compare the two and start a full-blown “who wore it better” war. Such hope only exists thanks to Joker: Folie à Deux (October 4, 2024) coming out a whole year before The Batman - Part II (October 3, 2025). While there’s no way out of this predicament since neither franchise will let go of their version of Joker, there’s at least some hope that the second entries will follow the example of the first ones. There was never really any discussion of crossover. It was easy to co-exist in different movies before, but a new Joker definitely complicates things in the same way Two-Face does: since Joker 2 will use this character, it almost means that Batman 2 can’t, otherwise it will be the movies’ second character clash in a row that will confuse the audience even further. 'Joker was always meant to be a very specific standalone that Joaquin Phoenix, and Todd Phillips were doing. This is harmful to both films since the comparison is inevitable at this point. Todd Phillipss Joker, a 2019 psychological thriller film starring Joaquin Phoenix, is a far cry from the previous incarnations, which is stirring up a fierce debate about the portrayal of the characters mental disorder. The current situation is rather phenomenal, and implies issues for both franchises, especially since The Batman - Part II will feature its own version of Joker, and the movie will come out relatively soon after Joker: Folie à Deux. This is a tough task considering how both the franchises have recently reimagined the popular characters that typically go hand-in-hand: if you pay to see Batman, you get Joker as a bonus, and vice versa. The thing is, Phoenix and Pattinson’s characters don’t co-exist on the screen, and they can’t co-exist in the audience’s mind. Since both of them are set in the same city and in the same period, it’s kind of implied that the Joker universe has its own Batman, and the Batman universe has its own Joker. In 20 years when Bruce becomes Batman, Arthur would be. Joker2 JoaquinPhoenix WarnerBrosTake a look at our Full Trailer concept for DC Elseworlds upcoming movie JOKER 2: Folie à Deux directed by Todd Phillip. In real-life, Phoenix is in his mid-40's, but the character he plays (Arthur) is actually in his early 30's - obviously aged terribly due to his lifestyle, upbringing and meager living. This is great for DC and for the overall popularity of the Caped Crusader story… However, this also creates a major issue for both Joker and Batman franchises. Phoenix's Joker would be no older than Jack Nicholson was when he faced off against Batman (he was 52). The new Joker with Joaquin Phoenix turned out to be a massive success so did the new Batman starring Robert Pattinson. The two new franchises are creating one huge problem for each other - but thankfully, the Joker sequel will solve it for both of them… Kind of, not really.
